Manipal Arogya Card 2009 -10' launchedBy Team Mangalorean ManipalManipal, June 09:The Manipal Arogya Card for 2009-10 was launched at Fortune Valley View Hotel venue here on Monday June 8, by the  Vice Chancellor of Manipal University, Dr Raj Warrier.The Manipal Arogya Card scheme of Manipal University is part of its social commitment to provide quality healthcare at affordable cost to a large section of the society. The card enables a member to avail of large benefits by way of discounts for inpatientand outpatient treatment in various networked hospitals under Manipal Health Systems, by paying a nominal sum as membership fee. The card membership will be open from June 10 to July 25.Dr Warrier informed that free consultations with any specialist / super specialist doctor any number of times during the year isthe most attractive outpatient benefits of the card. Among the In patient benefits, free bed charges in general ward with no nursing charges, no attendant charges, etc for any number of times during the year, are some of the

attractions. Dr Warrier also added that 20% discount on diagnostics and laboratory investigations will give considerable relief to the patient. There will a 10% rebate on medicines purchased from hospital pharmacy with proper prescriptions.According to Dr Raj Warrier, Manipal Arogya Card is a unique scheme in which the discounts on treatment can be availed on pre-existing diseases as well. Manipal Arogya Card is priced at just Rs 200/- for an individual card and Rs 450/- for a family card. Family includes the card holder, spouse and children below 21 years of age (any number of children). An add-on card is also available for the parents of primary card holders under the family card scheme for Rs 100/- per parent. The benefits of Manipal Arogya Card, said Dr Warrier, can be availed at various hospitals under Manipal Health Systems. At Manipal the hospitals include Kasturba Hospital, Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Hospital, Manipal College of Dental Sciences. In Mangalore - KMC Hospital, Attavar, KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle, and Manipal College of Dental Science, Hampankatta and  in Udupi - Dr.T.M.A Pai Hospital and Dr.T.M.A Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala. The Manipal Uma Hospital at Kasargod will offer special rates and discounts for the card holders. Applications for the scheme is available at all networked hospitals under Manipal Health Systems and Syndicate Bank branches in Udupi, Mangalore, Shimoga, Uttara Kannada, Davangere, Chitradurga, Chikmagalur, Kodagu and in North Kerala - Kannur and Kasargoddistricts in Kerala. A 揌elpdesk� has been set-up at each participating hospital to provide more information about the Manipal Arogya Card Scheme.
