3 killed in Udupi; Fishing banned from 15June to 10AugUdupi: Three people were killed in three separate incidents in Udupi district on Friday as heavy rains continued in Coastal Karnataka for the second day today. According to the sources, two persons were killed due to lightning while one person was killed when thier fishing boat collapsed in the middle of the sea due to gusty winds. He died on the spot.According to revenue officials, Ananda Devadiga (30), a newly married from Kergalu Hoskote at Byndoor in Udupi District, was killed on the spot when lightning struck his house on June 4.In another incident, a 65-year-old woman, Appi Poojarthi died on the spot in Udupi District, when lightning struck her house.The person whose boat was overturned in the sea is identified as Nagaraja Patel (38) from Gangoli village of Kundapur talukKeeping in mind the dangerous tides and continuous the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj had banned fishing from June 15 to August 10 along Karnataka coast.The fishermen, violating the order would be strictly barred from availing facilities and concessions, he added.http://www.sahilonline.org/english/news.php?catID=coastalnews&nid=5594
